Tech & Accessibilities Joint Hybrid Research Meeting

The Tech and Accessibilities Committees have officially kicked off our joint research and exploration into what it would take to successfully host hybrid Area Assemblies. We want to keep the body informed as we learn, and we’d love to welcome anyone who’s interested to follow along with the process.

We’re meeting every other Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. CT, and we’ll be opening alternating meetings for anyone in the Area who would like to join us and hear what we’re learning. The dates for are open meetings are:

  • Tuesday, August 18, at 6:30 pm CT/ 7:30pm ET
  • Tuesday, September 15 at 6:30pm CT/ 7:30 ET.

So far, our work has included:

  • Attending and observing hybrid Area Assemblies in person and/or virtually in Kentucky and Michigan, with upcoming observations planned in Louisiana and Illinois to continue learning from their experiences.
  • Comparing virtual meeting platforms, costs, and capabilities.
  • Compiling an inventory of the equipment our Area already owns and identifying what additional equipment would be needed to conduct a trial hybrid assembly.
  • Continuing to explore solutions while keeping the concerns and feedback shared by the body top of mind during our discussions.

Please join us at one of our open meetings if you’d like to listen in, ask questions, or stay informed as the committee continues its research. We’d love to have you! If you’re interested in becoming more involved, feel free to reach out. Our working group meets every other week and members take on research assignments and other action items between meetings.
